Trump will be holding a campaign rally at Santander Arena Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. (scroll for traffic impacts).

Videos posted to X show the crowds waiting outside of the area.

One supporter came all the way from Detroit.

Trump's visit is expected to have major implications on traffic.

Cherry and Penn streets have been closed since 8 a.m., while Penn Street Bridge will be closed during the event.

Those traveling into Reading during the event are urged to use alternative routes, including the Bingaman Street Bridge.

As for parking, the State Lot parking area at 7th and Penn streets near the arena is reserved for the event and not available to the public, according to a representative with the Reading Parking Authority. Other parking areas and parking garages are still available for use, but may need to be accessed from other streets depending on road closures.

Pennsylvania State Police are providing support to both the Secret Service and local police during the event, according to PSP representative Myles Snyder. Snyder said that PSP is dedicated to ensuring that all attendees and the public at large remain safe during the event.

The Pennsylvania Democratic Party also responded to news of Trump's visit.

"As David McCormick continues to campaign with Donald Trump, he can't escape Trump slamming him for 'managing money for communist China,' TaNisha Cameron, a spokesperson for the party said.

"McCormick has invested millions in blacklisted Chinese military companies and he even invested in China's largest fentanyl producer while thousands of Pennsylvanians suffered. His record is disqualifying."
